My name is Jim Doepken. I’ve been a pastor in the United Methodist Church in Alaska for the last 18 years and I’ve been dabbling in missional theology and practice for the last five years or so. I’ve been reading some books and perusing tons of blog posts and clipping quotes and articles into an Evernote account. A lot of this has been coming out in sermons over the last several years. A lot of it has come through in Bible studies. A lot has come out on my own personal blog.
But, as I share this more and more with others, I wanted a place to get some of these quotes out in the public and also to force myself to put down on paper some of the ideas and teachings that have shaped much of what I’ve been doing and talking about.
So, here it is.
I am still learning and living into what Missional Theology means. But these are the snippets and thoughts that continue to shape who I am and what I do as a pastor.
