I have followed Bill Easum for years…like 20 maybe. I remember attending a conference he spoke out where he was hitting some of the points from his (then) recent book Sacred Cows Make Gourmet Burgers, which came out in 1995. It’s nice to see he’s still trying to kick the church forward as I stumbled across a post of his which talks of the 6 Key Ingredients for discipleship, leadership, and multiplication of small groups. You’ll need to read the whole post to get the whole story, but here’s the list:
COMMUNITY — Need to have bonds with othesr for spiritual growth and providing places with others
APPRENTICE DEVELOPMENT — Need to learn “the discipleship trade” just like you’d apprentice a job to then teach others
DISCIPLESHIP TRAINING — Need to train others to “go” out of the four walls of the church, becoming like Jesus.
MULTIPLICATION — Need grow, not be stagnant, and to be constantly welcoming.
EQUIPPED TO BE SENT — Need to always be reaching out beyond the church.
MISSION — This is “putting the feet” to what you’ve learned.
