I use the word “missional” all the time. I use it to describe the “sentness” of the church in the world which comes from the notion that we have a “sending God.”. I use it to describe the opposite of the “attractional” model of the church that tries to attract folks with the latest music or coolest pastor or most programs. I use it to to describe a model of living that has roots all the way in the call of Abraham (Genesis 12) where he is “blessed to be a blessing.” I use it describe the notion that missions is not something only done “over there,” in other places around the world, but is done right here through the relationships we experience in our community.
