Missional Field Notes

Quotes, Examples, and Ideas from My Missional Frontier

KidCraftAndCarepicLast Friday night we had the our First Friday Art Walk of the Summer here in Seward, Alaska. It’s a time (each first Friday) for downtown shops to host artists and welcome visitors to check out the works, meet artists, and have refreshments. It’s a wonderful community activity.

This Friday our church participated. But we didn’t host an artist. Instead we opened up our doors to children in the community to work on art and craft projects while their parents participated in the walk. We called it “Kid Craft and Care.”  While we didn’t have the hundreds of kids we were hoping for, the parents who came appreciated it and it looks like we’ll make plans to have it again in June.

One of my mantras for missional thinking is, “Look what God is already doing in your community and participate with it.” This was our church doing just that.
